SONG REVIEWS FROM ALBUM "RARE" Song "RARE" is CLASSIC you, signature harmonies/vocals. The spine of your music.

Song "NO ONE BELIEVES" i love it. has some stinging surf guitar, and blistering lyrics. a slightly menacing and bitter napoleonic gothic beginning anguished out on a malibu beach with go-go dancers everywhere. very lysergic! the deepest song. guitar licks could be twice as long, lyrics song slower: haunt people even more. tantalizing rare druggy bite to this song which i like.
Song "DOIN' THAT TO ME" is punky thumpy playful piece. a little too derivative for me in the beginning but smashingly tight finish.
Song "WHERE ARE WE" is honey's favorite. she loves harmonica. the fullest richest song of 4. tight beginning middle and end.

Some Reviews of Last Night's Show:

Carew gave one of his best performances yet to an appreciative audience at Havana Restaurant on Commercial Drive on April 30th (2006). The show marked the release of his 18th album, “Quoi”, and was a kind of retrospect of his life’s work, spanning a long career. I’ve known Mike’s work for about 10 years and have really seen him develop as both a songwriter and a performer. But this show was less about the honing of talent and more about an honest accounting of the musician’s life when the songs were written.

“Quoi” stands out from all his older work. It has a level of honesty and integrity which isn’t easy to find these days, whether it is in the form of a politic statement, or a love song. “Quoi” is a winner!
